The US Open Experience Takes Over Times Square June 13th

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., June 9, 2011 – The USTA announced today that the US Open Experience will take over Times Square in New York City on Monday, June 13, as part of its launch to promote the first day of ticket sales for the general public to the 2011 US Open which will be played at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y., Monday, August 29 through Sunday, September 11.
“US Open Takes Times Square” will run from 9 a.m.–1 p.m., on June 13 in the pedestrian plaza between 46th and 47th St. Four-time US Open champion John McEnroe, will be on-hand to help kick off the event. The event is free to the public, and will feature a wide range of US Open and tennis activities for people of all ages and skill levels.
Kiosks also will be available on site for fans to purchase tickets to all day and night sessions of the 2011 US Open -- including exclusive access on-site for hard to get tickets – as well as Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day. Fans also can register at the kiosks to win a pair of tickets to the 2011 US Open. One pair will be given out each hour during the event.
“US Open Takes Times Square” will feature a skills and target competition on a miniature US Open-style tennis court constructed in Times Square, with participants competing for free US Open tickets, merchandise, and other prizes. Fans can have their photo taken with the US Open trophy and test their video game tennis skills on Nintendo’s Wii console.
