Djokovic and Wozniacki Win Stuffed Toys in China

  

Novak Djokovic and Caroline Wozniacki walked away as the Singles Champions of the China Open, beating David Ferrer and Vera Zvonareva respectively.  And for winning, they both won big fat gold trophies and this:

Ok, Seriously, what the heck is that thing?  Is it an animal, is it a tennis ball with arms and legs?  Well, whatever it is, it's weird, and it gives me bad dreams, unless the dream of course is Ferru or Nole snuggling with it at night.  Hmmm, maybe they're not so bad after all.

Best Dressed: Caroline Wozniaki Worst Dressed: Everyone Else

This picture is confusing on so many different levels, the weird pose, the mix of plaid and argyle with animal prints, the fact that Caroline is better dressed than Jelena (a sweater gf?)  I guess being a sexy tennis star clearly doesn't make you a fashionista.  I'm disappointed that JJ, Bepa, and Sam didn't taken some tips from their sexy video shoot for the NY Times.

The women did their obligatory presser for the the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo, Japan that is from September 26-October 2.  Next time there needs to be a dress code.....seriously.

Jada's Bored and So Am I

I really wanted to see a good match between Vera Zvonaeva and Kim Clijsters last night, but all wishes do not come true.  It was probably one of THE most boring, one-sided matches I have ever seen.  I was embarrassed for Vera who really is a better tennis player than she seemed in her straight set loss 2-6, 1-6. The truth of the matter is, Clijsters was on FIYAH, and Vera couldn't handle the heat.

Vera Who?

I think I like Vera Zvonereva, but I just don't know enough about her to have an opinion.  Prior to the US Open, I thought she was just a headcase.  I remember her epic breakdown at last years US Open more than being second runner-up at Wimbledon this year.

US Open Day 3 and 4: A Lot of Tennis with a Touch of Douchebaggery

Didn't post anything yesterday, and tonight's post will be a quickie.

Day 3 was a pretty great day.  Didn't get started until around 2pm due to lack of sleep, but when I arrived on the grounds I was grateful for the slight breeze and temperatures a few degrees cooler than the day before.  I stalked the practice courts for about an hour and got to see Tommy Robredo, Roger Federer, Andy Murray, Martina Navratilova and Kim Clijsters. The only one that got the shirtless memo was Robredo (Navratilova and Clijsters excluded of course.)

NY Times Magazine has outdone itself. Currently on their website, they have an article about the power- game in women's tennis titled, "Women Who Hit Hard."  With the article, they have also posted on their website a series of slow-motion videos of the top womens players hitting balls while glammed out.  The end result?  Amazing.  See for yourself.
