Reading Room: Fashion, Real Estate, Cars, Parties And More

Here are some interesting and/or fun stories buzzing around the tennis world right now:

Caroline Wozniacki made a 9 million dollar investment in a pair of apartments in New York prior to the French Open.  They're kinda sweet.

Tennis meets fashion as 15 women players, including Ana Ivanovic, Maria Sharapova, and Serena Williams, will pair with Britain's top and emerging fashion designers during Wimbledon.

A bizarre interview with Rafael Nadal.  The interviewer has some good points, but is clearly not a Rafa fan.

A little more Rafa, as he parties it up after his victory with Xisca and family.  Uncle Toni is looking mighty snazzy.

Andy Murray had to stand in the shower with a "strange girl" for an hour for his new video for Head Tennis.  He also dishes about pitfalls of giving too much or too little to the media.

Roger Federer pulled out of The Gerry Weber Open and the tournament director is none too pleased.

In Roger's defense, Andy Murray makes a good point about all the pull outs from various tourneys this week.

And finally, Fed gets to test-drive a Mercedes that isn't even on the market yet.  The luxuries of being the G.O.A.T.

Injury Update: Juan Martin Del Potro

We JUST got him back at the end of 2010 after being absent from our TV screens for 9 months due to wrist surgery, and now after getting back in top ten form and winning the SAP Open and more recently the Estoril Open,  Juan Martin del Potro is out with another injury, an 8 mm tear in his one of his left quadriceps muscles (rectus femoris) that he sustained in Madrid, and is his trip to Roland Garros hangs in the balance.

Although many, even his own team, have written off an appearance in Paris altogether, Delpo remains optimistic, at least on Twitter:

Translation:

The results of my studies were a tear in the hip. I have started rehabilitation and will do everything possible to be in Paris.

Hopefully he will come back, and STAY back soon.

Mother Knows Best

A fan recently asked this question on Twitter to Oracene Williams, mother and coach to Venus and Serena Williams:

Her response?

I guess the wait for the sisters return will continue.  Serena hasn't played since Wimbledon last year, and Venus hasn't played since the Australian Open this year.
