#ATPNewport Semifinal Saturday Wrap Up

It’s how you use it

Saturday’s semifinals at the Tennis Hall of Fame Championships were both straight-set affairs. Gilles Muller soundly defeated Donald Young in the first match of the day, 6-3, 6-4. Following his loss, the American said he had “no rhythm” and could not get into any of Muller’s service games. In fact, he only won five points on Muller’s serve, only one of which came when returning first serve.

On The Go With Gilles Muller

What does it mean to represent your country in the Olympics?  It’s always nice to play in such a large event like the Olympics but let’s put it this way, it’s not as exciting as if it was for the first time but then I am very excited to be in the Olympic Village because last time in London it was very unfortunate that Wimbledon was so far away and I didn’t get a chance to stay in the Village and feel the Olympic atmosphere and being with the other athletes.

Fast Five With Gilles Simon

We caught up with Gilles right after his win over Michael Berrer in Indian Wells.  He had just finished a series of interviews in French and greeted us with an “I’m so happy to answer questions in English!”

What is your favorite cell phone application?  It’s not easy but I would say because of my son, Candy Crush. I tried to erase it from my phone but he said “Daddy, I want to play the game with the sweets” so I turned it back on.

Can you describe yourself in 3 words?  This is also not easy (pauses). I would say honest, talented and an idiot (as confirmed by my coach).

If you could switch places for one day with any person who would it be and why? The French President of the Republic, just to see how it would be in the office.

What is your most embarrassing moment? Oh I’ve had a lot, on the court, outside of the court but one day on court in Cincinnati, I felt really alone because I throw my racket and the racket bounces and went over the fence and then someone had to go all the way around to get it and I had to wait 5 minutes and I felt very alone because everyone was watching me.

Dream of Dating a Professional Tennis Player? Check Out the Web Series "Broken at Love"

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to date a hot tennis player?  If we are all honest, most of us have a "favorite player" (that has absolutely nothing to do with the tennis), and a new webseries "Broken At Love" created by Brown-Eyed Girl Productions brings your fantasies to life!

Serbians Playing to Win in Cincinnati

CINCINNATI – He’s already won nine titles this year, more than double any other tennis player in the world, and Novak Djokovic wants even more.

Also, just because the U.S. Open is quickly approaching, don’t think he is going to limit his efforts at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati. He’s in it to win it.

“Performing the best tennis is the priority in New York. But still I will not, you know, play matches on this tournament just to get some practice,” he vowed. “I don’t do that. I go to every match to win.”

Dissecting Davydenko: The Quest for Luck

I have really missed Nikolay Davydenko.

Davydenko, or Kolya as he is known by fans and friends, has always been one of the most underrated players and personalities on tour.  He's a quiet and quirky workhorse with a deceptively tricky game who seemed to be constantly overshadowed by bigger guys, bigger games, and bigger personalities.

Bromance: Juan Monaco and Andy Murray

Andy Murray and Juan Monaco have several things in common:  their love of Twitter, Playstation, and above all each other.  Yesterday the below convo took place on Twitter which, according to many people, doesn't really make any sense.  But honestly......I don't even care what they are saying because their bromance is absolutely adorbs.

Andy had me at "Picooooooooooooooo!"
