Instagram Birthday Greetings

As we all know, social media has really made an impact in pro tennis (among other places) and it's apparently become a great way to keep track of your favorite players' birthdays. Within 24 hours these two posts popped up Instagram. I don't know about you but I didn't remember it was Stan's birthday - and his 30th to boot. Thankfully the fine ATP World Tour folks were keeping track.  You gotta love (?) Stan's shirt and that cake looks AMAZING.

And just one day later - in a more model-like pose on Pico's page...

I love Pico's creative use of emojis. It's almost like he planned in out. Too cute.

These two birthday shout outs got me thinking about upcoming birthdays so I did a quick search in the 2015 ATP World Tour and 2015 WTA Media Guides and below is a list of players born in April.

4/2 – David Ferrer

4/3 – Tommy Haas, Madison Brengle

4/6 – Robin Haase

4/7 – Sorana Cirstea

4/10 – Thanasi Kokkinakis

4/12 – Marcel Granollers

4/17 – Jo-Wilfried Tsonga

4/19 – Maria Sharapova

4/20 – Alex Zverev

4/23 – Daniela Hantuchova

4/25 – Jan-Lennard Struff

4/26 – John Isner, Jarmilla Gajdosova

4/27 – Nick Kyrgios

4/29– Bob Bryan, Mike Bryan, Sara Errani

Most of these folks are on Instagram so I'm sure we'll see more shout outs!

Roland Garros Recap: Days 1 and 2

Novak's Feeling Chatty

Before his first round match, which he won in straights, Novak dished to the press on his upcoming nuptils with Jelena Ristic. Unfortuantly, he wasn't so keen to give us a date.

Novak was feeling chipper in his first round match and even took the time to have a wee chat with a ball kid. Apparently Novak asked the kid whether he played tennis and who is idol was. The reply? “Cannot tell you”. Obviously not Novak then!

Wawrinka Changes His Name To Stan

World No.3 Stanislas Wawrinka has asked the ATP to officially call him 'Stan'.

Wawrinka’s manager, Lawrence Francopan, told the “Tages-Angzieger”, (Translated) “Stanislas is long and bulky in the written form, also not easy to pronounce. There was always confusion. Furthermore him anyway call all, ‘Stan the Man.’”

It's unclear whether Stan has changed his name in official documents, or just for tennis. Either way, it won't change much for most tennis fans!
