Roland Garros '13 Fashion: Hits and Misses

It feels like forever since I've sat down to analyse the most important factor in Grand Slam tennis: the fashion. But it is time for me to cast my eyes over what the stars are wearing at what is usually the least fashionable Grand Slam. Perhaps it's the awkward coloured clay, or maybe nobody feels they can look as good as the French so they don't bother trying. Who knows.

Originally Rachel was going to do her own reviews as well, but then life got in the way. Hopefully she will be able to join me for Wimbledon, but until then you're stuck with me. I'm going to start with the girls and then move onto the boys. First up is Serena Williams.

Clive Brunskill/Getty Images Europe When I first saw Serena's outfit I thought that it was nice, but hadn't I seen it before? Turns out, the grey/orange colour combo is pretty popular with Serena and Nike. She wore similar colour combinations at the French Open 2010 and at Rome this year. So forgive me if I'm not overawed by it this time around. I do, however, like the structure of the dress. The top half manages to be both modest and flattering before giving way to an empire line. I possibly would like to see just a little more length on this dress, but it's merely a matter of inches. Otherwise, a solid if predictable job from Nike and Serena.

Jelena Ristic Joins Twitter... Or Is That David Brent?

The gorgeous girlfriend of Novak Djokovic joined Twitter today complete with a profile picture showing off her fabulous style and enviable hair, (she's the brunette alternative to Kim Sears). 

Jelena has spent her first 8 hours on Twitter replying to people, but we have no doubt she will be sending cute pics and interesting tweets anytime soon. It appears the main reason Jelena has joined is to help grow the Novak Djokovic Foundation, a charity she is director of. 

We do, however, have to question her choice of words in her profile. To all you British Office fans out there... does this sound just a little too much like David Brent?

Photos: Novak Djokovic Plays Shirtless Soccer at the BNP Paribas Open

Novak Djokovic is never one to refuse a game of soccer on the field of the BNP Paribas Open - and this time Nole fans, not only do we have him running around with his tennis buddies (and RedFoo), but we have him SHIRTLESS!  Now, when you see the picture of him on the ground, please don't worry, he was just pretending to fall and fake an injury so his team could win the point.  Enjoy!

Photos: Ground-Breaking Ceremony for the Indian Wells Tennis Garden Expansion

Today was the official ground-breaking ceremony for the expansion of the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.  The expansion will include a permanent Stadium 2 featuring 8,000 seats and two restaurants to overlook both the court with a view of the Santa Rosa Mountains, marquee site entrance from Washington Street, a new shade structure, four new practice courts, and parking for an additional 2,000 cars!  Holy Moly!!!

Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Victoria Azarenka, Novak Djokovic, and Ana Ivanovic were all out to participate in the event.  Vika and Fed even gave a little speech!  Photos after the jump!  Enjoy!

Reading Room: Swearing, Donkeys, and Potential Beat Downs

Here is a quickie to keep you updated on some of the stories floating around the web.....

I guess when you are SUPER wealthy you can spend your money on anything.  This involves a donkey, cheese, and Novak Djokovic.....and no, this isn't a bad joke.

Caroline Wozniacki better watch her back.....  Impersonating Serena Williams by adding some "junk to her trunk" the first time was kinda funny, the second time was just kinda rude.  I know Caro is "Miss Sunshine" and all, but I think that there is a very real possibility that if it happens again there will be a "girl fight!"  Don't mess with Re Re.

Andy Murray says he is going to quit swearing on the court.  That's like Roger Federer saying he is going to start being humble.
