Prepare for it people. By the end of the year, Caroline Wozniacki is going to be World #1. I know, I know, *sigh* we are going to have another "number 1" who hasn't won a major, but we've seen it before (JJ, Safina), and them's the brakes when it comes to the ranking system. She's won 5 tourneys this year, and the system rewards people who play, unlike some of her, ahem, mysteriously injured counterparts. She has been consistent when everyone else is faltering, so in that regard, good for her. (Not necessarily good for the WTA)
In other tennis news, Mikhail Youzhny has won his 2nd tournament this year, beating Andrey Golubev in the Malaysian Open Final, and Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, who upset Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals, went on to win his 2nd ATP title, defeating Jarkko Nieminen at the Thailand Open.
The China Open got underway today and began with a couple of upsets. Samantha Stousr and defending champion Svetlana Kuznetsova were both defeated in the first round.
