We got a chance to catch up with Melanie Oudin prior to her WTT match for the Boston Lobsters, and she did our OnTheGoTennis Quick Q & A. Here is what she had to say:
Friday, October 1, 2010 at 6:17PM While in New York, Ellen Degeneres visited the US Open and all types of hilarity ensued. She played tennis with Melanie Oudin, crashed Venus Williams book signing, taught the ball kids, and made drinks for fans while drinking a bit herself.
My favorite part? When she puts two shots into someone's Honey Deuce, (a fab drink the sell at the Open) instead of one and calls it mixed doubles. Hmmmm......doesn't sound so funny when I type it, but really funny to watch. Promise!

If you haven't seen my flickr photostream yet, you should, but I'll give you a little preview here. The US Open this week was AWESOME, and I am terribly sad that I am back at home in North Carolina. The first week was ridiculously hot, and there was no shortage of people getting heat-stroke (really), but we still braved the heat to watch our favorite players battle it out on the courts.

Didn't post anything yesterday, and tonight's post will be a quickie.
Day 3 was a pretty great day. Didn't get started until around 2pm due to lack of sleep, but when I arrived on the grounds I was grateful for the slight breeze and temperatures a few degrees cooler than the day before. I stalked the practice courts for about an hour and got to see Tommy Robredo, Roger Federer, Andy Murray, Martina Navratilova and Kim Clijsters. The only one that got the shirtless memo was Robredo (Navratilova and Clijsters excluded of course.)

I will admit it, I was SOOOO on the Melanie Oudin bandwagon last year at the US Open. It was just too good of a story.....little spunky kid with the tennis shoes bearing "Believe," makes it to the quarter-finals taking out 3 seeded players en-route, becomes America's darling, does multiple late-night appearances and plays tennis with Ellen. So what happened?
