Wimbledon has been reasonably upset-free so far, (unlike last year), but I was hoping Aussie teen Nick Kyrgios would be able to pull off the upset over Richard Gasquet. Wimbledon is on pretty late in Australia so after Nick dropped the first two sets 3-6 6-7 I went to bed. Nick was playing Ok, his serve perhaps wasn't clicking as much as usual, but Gasquet just looked too solid. So imagine my surprise when I woke up, (at 2am, to watch soccer) and saw Nick pulled off the upset 10-8 in the fifth. It's a really exciting time for Aussie tennis fans who don't want to support Bernard Tomic. Nick is confident and has swagger, but he's humble and hard-working too. He takes on wildcard Jiri Vesely in the third round, who took out Gael Monfils in five sets.
Entries in Gael Monfils (25)
The problem with Sunday starts is that by the time Thursday rolls around the schedule is looking a little bit thin. But that's Ok, because Roger Federer wore this hair to training to keep us entertained. We're taking bets as to which one of his kids styled it.
Roland Garros Kids' Day featured a pretty awesome dance battle between French players Gael Monfils and Laurent Lokoli. While Lokoli deserves many points for being brave enough to challenge Monfils, he doesn't quite outshine the man famous for his abilties to entertain. Enjoy!

If you could only have 1 meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Dombres, it is a creole meal from Guadeloupe.
What is one thing that you would change about yourself?
I’d be taller.
Like in meters, we’ll say 2.08, 2.10. [That is 6’9 and 6’10 for my American peeps.]
How happy would your rate yourself right now on a scale from 1-10?
Serena Williams, Gael Monfils and couple Victoria Azarenka and Redfoo indulged in some Karaoke before their charity exhibition. 'Vika For The Cause' benefited the Children's Hospital in Los Angeles and featured a match where twenty lucky people had the chance to play tennis with the pros. Vika followed that up with a youth clinic where her and the other players gave kids coaching and hit with them. I'm thinking the tennis was probably of a higher quality than the singing!
You might wonder why I think this is the most awesome scoreboard in history. No, it has nothing to do with an amazing point or anything that will go down in the history books. But, just read the first line of the scoreboard out loud and then take a look below at who was playing.
Love him or hate him, Ernests Gulbis, who lost a tight four setter to Gael Monfils, is certainly an interesting character. His latest soundbite? Gulbis has said the top four are 'boring.'
"Tennis today badly lacks characters. I respect Roger [Federer], Rafa [Nadal], Novak [Djokovic] and [Andy] Murray, but for me all four of them are boring players. Their interviews are boring. Honestly, they are really boring. I often go on YouTube to watch interviews. I quickly stopped watching tennis interviews. It's a joke. It was Federer who started this trend. He has a superb image as a perfect Swiss gentleman. I repeat that I respect Federer, but I don't like the way that young players try to imitate him."
