Novak Djokovic did a fancy dance after his straight forward win over Paul-Henri Mathieu. The Serb dropped only four games in his second round match and moves on to face Sam Querrey.

Being young, good-looking and great at tennis sure has its perks, as Grigor Dimitrov and Genie Bouchard found out in Acapulco Bay. Both are in Mexico to attend the Abierto Mexicano TELCEL tournament, and the up and coming stars were treated to a yacht ride, a helicopter ride and then some special water tennis.
First Justin Bieber, now Bernard Tomic. Eugenie Bouchard sure attracts a lot of controversial men! After Bieber tweeted Genie good luck before today's semi-final, Tomic turned up in his usual backwards cap and giant sunglasses to support her. Thankfully, Genie showed she has plenty of straight-laced support too when Milos Raonic sat in her box as well. That's one popular players' box!
Raonic and Tomic may support the same player but they didn't look like BFFs out there - they left one very empty seat between them! Tomic's crutches were present too, just in case anyone was still doubting his injury, (hint: they're not).
Unfortunately for Genie, all that extra support couldn't get her into the final as she fell in Li Na in straight sets.
Let me start off by saying, I NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER thought I would write something about Justin Bieber on my website. Chalk it up to being too old, not cool enough, or maybe it's just that I like my men to be able to express their feelings instead of egging houses and peeing in mop buckets but, I'm definitely not a #belieber. However, our new tennis sensation Eugenie Bouchard is, which is totally ok because she's only 19 years old and therefore still allowed to make bad decisions, (I'm looking at you Serena).
"So take off all your clothes!"
We wish right? Wouldn't that be a sight - all the players in their birthday suits on the court. Well....now back to reality. Apologies for being a little behind on our roundups! The heat is affecting us too as Kait is at the Open as a fan and has no energy left for blogging after being in 107 - 108 degree temperatures for a couple of days. And to be honest, that has been the real story for the past 2 days...the HEAT!
Players were passing out on courts - Frank Dancevic was unconscious for about a minute after he hallucinated that he saw a cartoon character,
"I was dizzy from the middle of the first set and then I saw Snoopy and I thought, 'Wow Snoopy, that's weird.' "
The Hopman Cup has kicked off, Brisbane Tennis starts tomorrow and Sydney and Hobart begin next week. It's a pretty exciting time to be in Australia; currently Genie Bouchard is on my TV chatting about how she loves the modelling side of pro tennis but will be careful she only chooses the right projects, (so no Playboy then, hopefully).
Sharapova has been in Brisbane with her boy, Grigor Dimitrov, and new coach. Meanwhile, the less famous tennis couple Petra Kvitova and Radek Stepanek are taking to the court to play doubles together in Perth as we speak. Bernard Tomic has apparently being training hard, no doubt he will do well in Australia and the media hype will once again go completely overboard, (it's really annoying). And Ash Barty just saved five match points to qualify for Brisbane.
There has been some news on the new balls in play for 2013. Apparently they don't fluff up and therefore do not take to spin as well. However, they're playing fast which might give the impression the courts have become quicker. It'll be interesting to see how the top players take to the faster speeds; I'm sure Roger Federer and Andy Murray will both be happy.
Enjoy the tennis, I'll have more updates for you this week!
I am so jealous of Marion Bartoli right now, she wins Wimbledon and then gets to canoodle with Gerard Butler. Things I must know: 1. How is she friends with Gerard Butler? and 2. Can she hook me up?!?
