Roland Garros 2012: Fashion Hits and Misses

It feels like years ago I was typing out my fashion blog for the Australian Open while eating takeaways after a long day at the tennis. My tan’s faded and Melbourne is chilly, but the tennis goes on. Roland Garros is usually a Slam that struggles to inspire the absolute best in fashion, possibly due to the lack of night session and proximity to Wimbledon, but this year some of the top players have really stepped it up. One lady in particular has made a comeback both on and off the court with her self-designed label. You know who I’m talking about. Read on and let me know if you agree with my choices in the comments box below.

First there were rumours he’d gone to Nike. That opened a discussion about Sergio Tacchini, and how they’d failed to capitalise on the success of the world No.1 player. But Novak Djokovic stuck with them for a little while longer and in Rome played in an outfit that was little more than a Serbian flag. After that shambles, most Djokovic fans felt ready for the inevitable split and when it did happen chat started again about which company Djokvoic would represent come Roland Garros. I doubt anyone guessed it would be the brand that was revealed just hours after the announcement of the ST split, but Djokovic surprised by signing with Uniqlo, a Japanese company that also sponsors Kei Nishikori and will be looking to make a better job of providing Djokovic fans with quality clothing than ST ever did. Djokovic’s inaugural Uniqlo outfit isn’t all that different from ST; Serbian colours and a collar still feature. However where ST could be a bit gaudy come the Serbian theme, Uniqlo has toned it down to just a few red and white stripes. They may be going for a classic look, but it’s also a bit boring and the man who currently holds three of four Slams surely deserves to stand out a little more. Or maybe they’re just letting Djokovic’s tennis do the talking. Regardless, it’s a solid if not outstanding debut.

Novak:  6/10

Caroline Wozniacki's music video for her single 'Oxygen'

Well guys, for better or for worse, it's here!  Check out Caroline Wozniacki's new video for her song 'Oxygen' which she recorded to support the Danish and Polish Paralympic teams.

I don't quite understand the video - there is a guy and his dog, a DJ, a band, and a tennis ball with a smiley face.  I was waiting for Rory to jump out at any moment, but alas, it didn't happen.  What I do know is that if you love autotune and awkward chemistry, you'll regret not pressing play!  Enjoy!

Quick Q & A With Caroline Wozniacki

While at the Sony Ericsson Open, I had the chance to have a comfy chat, (comfy because instead of the regular folding chairs we did our interview a nice leather couch - upgrade!) with Danish tennis star Caroline Wozniacki.  She truly embodies her nickname "Sunshine" because her smile lights up a room and is infectious!  Enjoy!

What is your passion outside of tennis?

I love baking!

What is your favorite thing to bake?

Everything!  All cakes - chocolate cakes, cookies, bread.  All different kinds of things.

Caroline Wozniacki interview bombs Mardy Fish

Today at the BNP Paribas Open, a journalist named Caroline Wozniacki, who is known to interrupt press conferences, hijacked Mardy Fish's presser and then chatted about golf.  It went a little something like this:

Caroline:  Excuse me, I have a question.  We all know that you're so good.  You finished off the match very quickly, but can you please finish off your press conference?  I'm actually after you, and I'd like to go back and...

Mardy:  How well did Rory play today?

Caroline:  Very nice, yeah.

Mardy:  Very good.

Caroline: 7-under.  How's your golf game?

Mardy:  Horrible.

Caroline:  I don't believe you.  You have your clubs here, I bet.

Mardy:  I do.  I haven't played yet.

Caroline:  You should go out and play.

Mardy:  I haven't played yet.  I might take a lesson from you.

Q. How do you think he'd do on the PGA?

Caroline:  No comment.

Oh Caro.....

Video: Caroline Wozniacki on 'Good Day New York'

Caroline Woznaicki was interviewed today on 'Good Day New York' promoting the BNP Paribas Showdown.  She talked about going to a Knicks game, her very short dress at the 2010 US Open, Serena Williams, and of course, her boyfriend Rory McIlroy.

Caroline and Rory recently had a bet to see who could hold out the longest from eating foods like breads and sweets, and per Caro, she won.  She still won't dish what her prize is for winning, only saying that it is "big" and she also threw out the word "jewlery."  Oh to be young, rich, and famous.......  Enjoy!
