Video: Q & A With Grigor Dimitrov

After advancing to the 2nd round in his Newport debut, Grigor Dimitrov a.k.a Lucky Charm (watch the video) sat down and gave me a little one-on-one time as he did the OnTheGoTennis Quick Q & A.  The video starts out a little bumpy, but then it is smooth sailing as Grigor charms with his witty personality.  He is super talented on the court and a riot off the court.  The perfect combination.  Enjoy!

Wine And Photography Don't Mix

On my first day in Newport we ran into Nicolas Mahut on the practice courts.  When I saw him walking towards me I immediately aimed my camera right in his face (a large zoom lens) which took him completely off-guard and clearly amused him.  When he walked by he smiled brightly for the camera, and politely said "Bonjour!"

A Couple Good Days At The Office

Novak Djokovic not only became the new Number 1 in the World this week, but he also became the first Wimbledon Champion not named Rafael Nadal or Roger Federer since 2003.  When asked how it felt to attain both titles this week, he responded that it had been, "a couple good days at the office."

Drumroll Please.....

Introducing your new number 1 tennis player in the world.......he's hot, he's charming, he's bendy, he's a squirrel whisperer, AND gluten free, but most importantly he plays damn good tennis, he's............NOVAK DJOKOVIC!!!!! 

Novak is now the 25th man to hold the title of number 1 in the world, and after being a finalist at the US Open, winning the Australian Open, blazing through several Masters 1000 events and now a first-time finalist at Wimbledon, the title is well deserved.

Amazingly (or not) it's the first time in 387 weeks that the title has been held by someone other than the name of Rafael Nadal (102) and Roger Federer (285).  Congrats Nole!!!

Injury Update: Milos Raonic

Milos Raonic hobbled out of Wimbledon today on crutches after he took a tumble during his second round match against Gilles Muller.   Raonic was leading Muller 2-1 in the first set when he slipped and fell on the grass.  He received a medical time-out where he had his right thigh taped, but soon after treatment was forced to retire.
