The Petko Dunk

It seems like only yesterday when Andrea Petkovic, because of a bet with her coach, debuted the Petko Dance in front of the crowd at the US Open.  It instantly became a tennis sensation resulting in a song, dance instructions, and even a music video.

As time went on and her game evolved so did the dance and we saw a little bit of everything ranging from the Dougie to the Snake and even the Moonwalk.   Now, in 2012, Petko is abandoning the dance altogether and her wins will be punctuated by one simple move....... The Petko Dunk.  The phrase was coined before my very eyes on Twitter last night by @FortyDeuceTwits or rather "Forty" and now we have video of the new move!  What do you think of the Petko Dunk?

At the pre-US Open Wilson event, where we broke the Guinness World Record for the most people bouncing a tennis ball on a tennis racquet in one location, I caught up with German tennis player Andrea Petkovic and we chatted about her favorite things to do in NY, the possiblity of doing "The Dougie" as her new Petko Dance, and why she wants to be Jessica Alba.  It's always a blast to chat with her.  Check it out!

We Broke Something!

When do you ever get the chance to break something without getting in trouble for it!!!  Well, at 9:16 am on Friday, August 26th, I was one of the 658 people, including Andrea Petkovic and Mardy Fish, who broke the Guinness World Record for the "most people bouncing a tennis ball on a tennis racquet in one location."

Tennis Players Make Noise In Cincinnati

CINCINNATI – Boom. Boom. Squeals. And Applause.

Andy Murray thrilled fans as he practiced at the Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati.  Targeting cans of tennis balls set in the corners of the service box, his aim several times was perfect and observers erupted in cheers when back-to-back serves scattered the cans to the back of the court.  One serve actually broke the can.
