Sloane Stephens Didn't Celebrate Serena Williams' Loss at the Australian Open

Channel 7 cleared up a rumor yesterday that Sloane Stephens was celebrating Serena Williams being upset by Ana Ivanovic at the Australian Open.  Multiple people had tweeted that Stephens high-fived her hitting partner after Serena lost and it's no secret that these two aren't particularly fond of each other.  However, what really happened was that Sloane was mimiking Ana Ivanovic's team after her win, and you can see in the video above that there were definitely no high-fives going around.'s up to you to decide why she had that big smile on her face, or whether mimiking Ana's team was a good idea when there are always camera lurking.  Check it out.

The point of this post was to show she wasn't celebrating someone's loss. She was mimicking Ana's team.

Isn't that still kind of a-holish? Making fun of the way someone else is celebrating? :s

No comment on that, but players make fun of other players all the time....cramping, fist-pumps, etc. Better than celebrating someone losing.

Uhm, how was Serena losing going to make Sloan Stephens the tools to beat her next opponent? NOT. GOING. TO. HAPPEN... She needs to start beating people she should be beating. #nottheone

If one wants to see a premier definition of "just not a good human being, period", they need look no further than the one who threatened an opponent with "I'm gonna get you in the locker room for that, you don't know me" and her blatantly racist father who proclaimed "The white man's hated me all my life, and I hate him - that's no secret."

Stephens has the right to celebrate however she wishes... but I do hope that she'll never, ever do a disgusting 'crip dance' upon a court.
