Caroline Wozniacki finally broke her silence, (and updated her profile picture) when she tweeted about her break-up with Rory McIlroy.
It's a hard time for me right now. Thanks for all the sweet messages!Happy I support Liverpool right now because I know I'll never walk alone— Caroline Wozniacki (@CaroWozniacki) May 22, 2014
Serena Williams responded with her own tweet, letting her know she has Caro's back. It's nice to see such friendship on the WTA, I've always thought reports of bitchiness were exaggerated.
Chris Evert also commented on the high-profile break-up, saying she was not surprised the relationship didn't work out.
"I mean, I was married in my 20s to my tennis. That was the only way I could put all my emotions and energies into that goal. I was in awe that it (McIlroy and Wozniacki's relationship) worked as long as it did... I can't believe it. They must be just different kind of people. I understand 100 percent, you're married to your career. You're using your emotions. You're using the mental capacity that you have. You're putting everything into it. That's what it takes to be the best." she told ESPN.
Evert was briefly engaged to Jimmy Connors at the age of 19 and has been married three times, so she knows exactly what Wozniacki and McIlroy must be going through.
