It's fair to say Roger Federer doesn't exactly appreciate the world of Twitter. The Swiss has long held out on joining the social media website, despite having a remarkable Facebook following. After his crushing straight sets loss at the hands of Rafael Nadal in the Rome final, Federer was asked to comment on Twitter's opinion that his serve was not up to speed.
If you're a bad boy addict, modern day tennis leaves a lot to be desired. On the surface, men's tennis is filled with gentlemen who hug their opponents after a loss and don't spit the dummy when a call doesn't go their way. They don't drink, they don't smoke and they certainly don't resemble James Dean (or Deen, if you prefer). But there are a few rough cuts amongst the polished stones, those who fit in more amongst John McEnroe and Ilie Nastase than the Wimbledon tea room regulars. Over the next few months, I will make an attempt to sort out those ATP players you'd take home to meet your mother from those you... definitely wouldn't.

He’s tennis’s most controversial character. Some love him because of his awkward playing style, others enjoy his no-holds barred personality. Many dislike him due his arrogance, sense of self-entitlement and failure to truly commit to tennis. Yet, of late, the overwhelming emotion felt towards our latest bad boy is one of sympathy. He is the one and only Bernard Tomic.

More than a few eyebrows were raised this morning when Sportspro magazine released their most marketable athletes list.

Instead of the usual names making the top ten, it was Sloane Stephens and Novak Djokovic that Sportspro decided were the most marketable tennis players. Djokovic, who came in at No.6, didn't surprise too many people. But Stephens, who at No.9 was ranked above Maria Sharapova (16) and Serena Williams (who didn't even make the list) made a few on my Twitter time wonder exactly what the Sportspro people had been smoking.

Federer and Murray Express Their Support For Gay Players

Roger Federer and Andy Murray have added their voices to those of Nicolas Almagro, Andy Roddick and Mardy Fish in support of gay rights. Both Federer and Murray do not think a homosexual player coming out would be an issue for the ATP and believe tennis is accepting of different sexualities.

"I don't think it would be a problem," Federer said. "We're very relaxed. We don't play a team sport and see each other all the time. ... We're very open. So whatever happens, happens. I don't know if there are any. So far from what I've heard, no. But that could change, possibly because of the case in the NBA."

Murray agreed, saying ''I think everyone has gotten better at dealing with it. More and more players have come out and I think there has to be some players that are probably gay. From speaking to the other players, I don't think anyone has any issues with it. So I hope that in tennis it's an issue that is dealt with well when the situation arises.''

It is clear by Federer and Murray's comments that the possibility of a gay player has been discussed between players. Here at the OTG we think it's fantastic that tennis - once a very conservative sport - is making its environment more welcoming for people of all sexualities.

If Tennis Players Were Celebrities Part 1

Have you ever wondered who your favourite player would be if they were a Hollywood actor or rock star?
It takes a lot for the mild-mannered Rafael Nadal to call someone stupid, but that's exactly how he has referred to our latest bad boy.
Maria Sharapova posted some pics of her shoot with Esquire Latin America, and to be quite honest I'm not a big fan. The nude swimsuit looks like something from American Apparel and does nothing to flatter her skin tone. What worse is how different Maria looks. I absolutely hate heavy retouching and Esquire clearly went to town on the computer, making Maria look less like herself and more like every other model. Increased cleavage? Check. Zero freckles? Of course not. Even her booty looks to have been slimmed down, which is ridiculous considering it is possibly her best asset. Why couldn't Esquire have stuck to improving the lighting and fixing up a few wrinkles? Maria is beautiful enough and her athletic body is the envy of women worldwide.
