Robin Soderling has found peace but his return to tennis is in doubt

Robin Soderling has been dearly missed on the ATP tour since his abrupt exit in July due to glandular fever, also known as mononucleosis.  In a new interview, Robin says that he is over the acute phase of the illness and no longer has a sore throat and fever, but now is struggling with the prolonged exhaustion that can sometimes complicate the course of recovery.  At this point he is only able to train for about 20 to 30 minutes, however there are other times he is too tired to even get off the couch.  He admits that he has a difficult journey ahead of him, and his illness may be (brace yourself Sod fans) career ending, however he is staying optimistic and taking one day at a time. He states, "I will do everything to get back."

In lighter news, during his time off the tour he has found a sense of peace that he had previously lacked, and he and his fiancée have also adopted a Maltese puppy and named him Sixten!  Big guys with small dogs = adorable.  He is also spending his time reading and playing puzzles,

I read lots of books, mostly about nutrition and physiology. And then I started doing puzzles. It is the best pastime and really good to practice patience, sometimes it takes several hours before finding that wretched piece, haha.

It would be wonderful to have Robin back, but I am happy that he is at least finding a way to enjoy himself off-court.  To read the entire interview (in Swedish) click here.

Really hope he can make it back. He made the 2009 FO the best ever. Would love to see him return to challange the Big 3 again.
