He did it! Not only did Rafael Nadal win a historic 8th title in "his house" in Monte-Carlo, but he also beat Novak Djokovic for the first time in 18 months. To say that Rafa was happy about this win is a huge understatement.

It must be pointed out that Novak had a very difficult week, with his grandfather passing away a few days ago, and you have to respect the number 1 for even continuing in the tournament; but Rafa also played phenomenally and if he can keep up this level of play, it should make for a very interesting clay season.
Since Novak started dominating Rafa in the last year and a half, their hand-shakes at the net have become progressively colder, mostly on Rafa's end, but now that he snapped his losing streak against Nole, they shared a hug at the net that was reminiscent of the good ol' days and it was nice to see.

Here is a cute Gif of it.
Rafa also had jokes during the trophy presentation where he told Nole,
After 7 times [beating me in finals] thanks for this one.

It made me really happy to see that bite again! Congrats Rafa!
