Rafael Nadal is Just Like Us

Rafael Nadal posted this picture of himself perusing the produce section in a local grocery store on his Facebook account.

Can you imagine shopping for groceries and just randomly running into the World Number 1?  It'd be a bit surreal which is why I bet that couple in the background looks a little dumbfounded.  Or perhaps they look like that because they have no clue who he is and are confused why someone is taking a picture of a random guy holding 3 onions, or whatever that vegetable may be in his hands.

Anyway, it's kinda cool that Rafa is just like us and does his own shopping.  Except that he is a tennis star, and he makes millions of dollars a year, and.....  Forget it, he's nothing like us.  I tried.

Or probably because their wondering where on earth (or in the heavens) this olive-skinned, muscle-ridden, greek-god-like figure came from.

LOL. That could very well be the case :)

in that particular supermarket they'd probably have no idea who rafa was...rafa always does his own grocery shopping during wimbledon, he's been spotted out more than once over the years...

He's a very humble guy. I wouldn't mind running into him at the supermarket. :)

On the contrary, it seems he got recognized just in that particular supermarket.

A tweet from that day (the day he arrived to London):
@P_Stew_: The wife has just had a chat with Rafa Nadal in Asda Burgh Heath. He was buying bananas. #spanishwizard

BTW, this supermarket is on the route from the Gatwick Airport and Wimbledon, so apparently they stopped there right on their way from the airport to stock up on supplies.

I think it would be hard for someone NOT to recognize Rafa, especially in a country where they take their tennis pretty seriously.

On a different note, I guess when I go to Wimby I know where I should get my groceries!! :)
