Julia Goerges answered questions from our Quick Q & A after her 2nd round win at the 2012 BNP Paribas Open. She is absolutely stunning in person (if you didn't already know) and also extremely nice. The perfect mix! Check out her answers below. Enjoy!
What is your passion outside of tennis?
Well I like to do a lot with my friends at home, especially being at home and spending a lot of time with my family and friends, especially with my little nephew. He is just a year-and-a-half so it’s pretty nice spending a lot of time with him. I didn’t have that much time in the last two months, but when I get home I always spend a lot of time with him.
What is something that annoys you?
I like to spend a lot of time with people where I know they are honest and saying the truth and being straight. So, I don’t like when people are coming to me and they are not straight and not telling me what they really think, and then behind the back it is different. So that is what really annoys me.
Do you have any lucky charms that you take with you on the court?
My necklace. [Points to her necklace that she is wearing, a silver heart with diamonds.]
Who gave you the necklace?
That is from my grandma. Actually she died, and my parents they bought it together. It was kind of a thing that when she died that I get something to remember her.
What is your favorite movie?
Notting Hill.
Favorite food?
Do you know Croque?
No
Our neighbors have a restaurant close to our house and they have a special baguette which is named Croque, and it has like - cheese, lettuce, and everything on, and they have a special sauce for it.
What is your favorite city?
Melbourne
Your favorite type of music?
Rock/Pop, I would say. More pop.
Who is your favorite artist?
Rihanna
What is the last thing that you read?
I have a Kindle, so the last book I read was from a German author and her name is Charlotte Link, which I like.
Do you have a celebrity crush?
What does that mean?
Is there someone famous that you think is attractive?
I like Hugh Grant as an actor, of course - Notting Hill [We said this together - and giggled] That is one where I say, “ok, for me he it’s not my age, but for me he is kind of attractive when he is in a movie.”
If there was a fire, and you could only save one thing, not a person, what would it be?
[Thinks very hard] My wallet.
If you had one superhero ability what would it be?
I would love to beam me in one place. When I know I have a long travel I would love to beam myself there in like 10 minutes.
