Ever wanted to look like Victoria Azarenka, Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams or Ana Ivanovic? Yeah, me too. Yet while I can buy pants like Maria or a tight dress like Serena, it's a lot harder to create their make-up and hair looks. After all, these girls get pampered by the very best in the beauty business and probably pick up a whole heap of handy tricks along the way. But for me, a girl who doesn't own a lot of make-up and has certainly never been taught how to apply it properly, it's impossible to look like our WTA stars.
Well it was impossible, until I met up with professional make-up artist Tani of Damsels and Dames. We picked the four women mentioned above and set to work on creating looks for me inspired by them.
This is the last of the four looks Tani created. If you missed the other posts, check out how we did Victoria Azarenka, Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams. Since both Vika and Maria were natural looks, we decided that Ana would join Serena in the glam pile, even though she rocks natural make-up very well too. We chose the above photo because although it isn't one of my favourite looks of Ana's, it is an interesting look and she does tend to wear her hair like that often.
We started out with the base pictured below. You can read how to create a flawless base here.
Ana has accentuated her eyes for this look, (pick either eyes or lips – not both!). After applying eye primer, Tani applied a black pencil eyeliner to my lower water line and smudged it to create a smoky look. She then used a sharp brush to apply black eyeshadow to my upper lids as eyeliner. She blended the shadow up onto the lid. She followed that with an apricot colour on the upper lids and blended it all the way up to my eyebrow.
The lower lid was then attacked with blue eyeshadow which she blended into the outer corner of my eye. She didn't need to use a heap of eyeshadow as blue is a colour that stands out a lot.
False eyelashes were applied to the outer corners on my top lashes and copious amounts of mascara were used.
Tani used a light pink lipstick and gloss on my lips – no lip liner required!
Ana often wears her hair with lots of volume. Tani curled my hair with tongs although rollers can be used too. There are plenty of You Tube tutorials if you are not sure how to do this. Obviously my hair is not as long as Ana's, but Tani created a similar look by side-parting it and tucking my fringe up and under. She then pinned my hair to one side.
I chose a yellow dress because Ana favours bright colours.
With my blonde hair, the look is a little more 80s than Ana's, but I'm Ok with that. I probably wouldn't wear this exact look, but I love the hairdo and would create a similar look for going out minus the blue eye shadow. I think this look would look especially lovely on dark-haired girls.
Perfect your base by:
- using primer
- picking the right foundation
- creating contours
- blend blend blend
- don't forget blush!
- use blue eyeshaow on the bottom lids and smudge upwards.
- smudge and blend to create the cats-eye look.
- apricot shadow on the upper lids.
- side part
- create curls with either tongs or rollers
- pin to one side
And that's our last look! Thanks so much to Tani from Damsels and Dames for creating such incredible makeup looks. If you have any questions for her post them in the comments below. I hope you've enjoyed these makeup posts as much as I did creating them.
