Injury Report: Rafael Nadal and Melanie Oudin
Monday, September 14, 2009 at 2:18PM 2009 has been full of ups and downs for Rafael Nadal. The year started with winning the Australian Open, and with many people predicting that he would have a Grand Slam year. Everything quickly changed after losing in the 4th round of the French Open and then withdrawing from Wimbledon due to patellar tendonitis. During his comeback in Cincinnati, he sustained an abdominal injury that was further aggravated at the US Open. It has now been reported that he has a 15mm tear in his abdominal muscle and per his doctors, must be out for at least a month. He has pulled out of Davis Cup Semifinal and is being replaced by Juan Carlos Ferrero. Rafa is also scheduled to play in the Thailand Open September 26th - October 4th, after which he is scheduled to play in Beijing and Shanghai. Melanie Oudin, who made it the the US Open Quarterfinals, has pulled out of the WTA's Bell Challenge Tournament in Quebec City citing a left thigh injury. She aggravated the injury at the US Open and played with it heavily wrapped.
