Fashion Forward: Venus Watch Day 1

Venus Williams is rocking her tennis line eleVen for Wimbledon, and if the past repeats itself, she will change her outfit with every match as she did during the Australian Open.  So, with that being the likely case, I'm going to start a Venus Watch where we can take a look at her often risky fashion choices throughout the tournament.  Below is what she wore today during her straight set win over Akgul Amanmuradova 6-3, 6-1.

I am going to go out on a limb here and say that I actually liked her dress/jumper that she wore today, even though it was panned universally on Twitter and by the commentators on ESPN.  For better or for worse, jumpers are back in style, and you see at least one of the Kardashian clan wearing  the style weekly (because THAT is the ultimate litmus test of what is trendy.......I jest, I jest.)

I liked the cutout in the back, and the billowy fabric reminded me of a Goddess as she flew through the air, which is appropriate for someone named Venus.  Here's her take on the outfit:

It's a jumper. Jumpers are very now, as is lace. The shoulders have a lot of draping, which is also in the moment.  It's just a trendy dress. I'm really into zippers, so it has a focal point of a zipper in the front. It's just fun.  The back, I don't know what you call it, it's like a cutout or like a peek a boo. I'm always trying to do something different and fun. But more lately now I'm really trending towards simplicity. I'm not sure why. It's just how I feel right now. Everything is getting more simple.

Whether you liked it or not, you HAVE to admit, it is better than some other choices she's made on the court.

What do you think?

I didn't like it. But yes, it is better than some of her choices.
