Evidence that Grigor Dimitrov and Maria Sharapova are dating (maybe)

Here we go again.  Mr. Cassanova of the ATP Grigor Dimitrov is allegedly dating another celebrity WTA Nike player, but this time it's Maria Sharapova.  I say "allegedly" because last time we got it wrong.  Let me bring you up to speed.

Earlier this year there were rumblings around the tour that Grigor and Serena Williams were an item.  I remember the first time there was any hint that Grigor was interested in Serena and it came via a tweet from his driver for the BB&T Atlanta Open.  She apparently had asked him who he would like to date in the WTA and he immediately said "Serena Williams."  However his coach laughed it off and said he was too young for her.

But not to long after they were spotted in Paris, and then they both started showing up at each other's matches in Miami.  It seemed obvious.....of course they were dating!  But, there was an unexpected twist when Serena was spotted hand on bum with Patrick Mouratoglou, who happens to coach both of them; so either there was some weird triangle going on or we were wrong, most likely that latter.  As quickly as it had started, the rumor died.

So here is the new scoop:

This weekend Maria Sharapova was in Milan for an exhibition match, and while she was being videotaped walking down the street, a tall hot guy was seen walking behind her with her team at the 12 min mark.  He finally catches up to her when she stops at stoplight (16 min mark), and who is it?!  Grigor of course!  She looks a little nervous to be seen with him, but she also can't stop smiling and giggling.  He is also eating a bag of her Sugarpova candy. (So cute!)  Young love, or just friends? 

Five reasons I think this could be the real deal:

1.  Grigor enjoys the spotlight.  When I did an interview with him almost 2 years ago I asked him "Money or Fame"  and he immediately said "Fame" (the only player to do so I might add).  So dating Maria would definitely increase his recognizability.

2.  Here is an interview of Grigor earlier this year, where he was asked the question, " Who would he date in the WTA (5 min mark).  

I would bet that the "Russian" was a Maria, possibly Kirilenko, but more likely Sharapova.  

3.  Maria has a "thing" for guys with dark hair and features.  Examples:  Novak Djokovic and Sasha Vujacic.

4.  Every girl needs a hot post-breakup fling.

5.  What is he doing in Milan?  Was there a Nike event going on?  I think not.

1+5 = Probably wrong, but hell, it makes a good story!

I wonder if when he made his move, it went like this:

Maria will be making a big big mistake going out with a 21 yr old, besides it is not a good match, Maria is taller than him & more accomplished

bottom line, they don't look good together, Maria needs a basketball player or NFL Quarter back to match her height

I think he's actually taller than her, at least when she is in flats, lol. I think they look cute together, but I think he is too young for her. I guess we'll see! :)

I think it would be great for them to be dating. They both are good looking and he seems to have a little bit of charm which would be great to grab Maria. I like the choice of them dating.

They are definitely great looking people and Grigor is definitely charming and appears to be an equal opportunity kind of guy. However, for some reason they come across more as friends than lovers. I have this feeling that even though the rumor of he and Serena turned out not be true he still would have liked it to be. I think he and Serena would come off better as lovers than he and Maria.

I honestly do not believe that Grigor is straight I think he's gay or bisexual. Grigor certainly likes the spotlight but he seems to be more comfortable kissing French male tennis players like Jeremy Chardy and Gael Monfils. Go to You Tube and see Grigor kissing these guys.

As for Sharapova I feel sorry for her Grigor is obviously her gay BFF. Poor girl.

Just overheard a rep for Sharapova passing on details of their relationship.... This is definitely happening. Sharapova is ready to announce it and above all else wants the press to know that he is a "hottie" - oh, and a new Sharapova line of clothing out before Aus Open, apparently. Hope this helps

@Jake, Grigor is not gay (not that there is anything wrong with being gay, just stating a fact). In Eastern Europe kissing each other on the cheeks is a way of greeting each other. :)

I totally agree with M. Kissing each other on the cheeks is way of greeting espesially between good friends. Gregor is good looking man also there is a lot in common between Russian and Bulgarian

Call me crazy, but I don 't see what everyone sees in him on the physical level. There is no sex appeal. I find Rafa and Roger way more sexy as men and more charming. However, if he and Maria are happy together, then that is all that matters. No one has the right to judge their relationship, even though everyone has the right to voice their own opinion. Just let them have fun as they are young and these are the best years of their lives.
