I know this happened a few days ago, but I found this great video of Rafael Nadal getting kissed by a crazed fan set to Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You." I love the way Rafa just shrugs it off and says the guy was a great fan. I envy the guy for being able to get that close to Rafa, but don't envy the fact that he is facing a year in jail and a 5,000 fine if convicted. Hope it was worth it!
Rain and wind were the two biggest players in tonight's men's quarter-final match between Rafael Nadal and Fernando Gonzalez. The match was officially suspended during the second set tiebreaker, where Nadal is currently up a set and leads the tiebreaker 3-2. Whoever wins tomorrow will have a tough road ahead; needing to play 3 straight matches in a row to get to the finals. This is probably more of a concern for Rafa who is playing with an aggravated abdominal injury. Hopefully they will play the 1st match tomorrow scheduled for 12:30 pm. To be continued...........
Rafael Nadal defeated Fernando Gonzalez 7-6(4), 7-6(2), 6-0 to advance to the semifinals. It only took 39 minutes for Rafa to grab the spot. Vamos!
I was watching Venus and Serena Williams defeat the Russians Kleybanova and Makarova in the doubles quarter-finals at the US Open, and was intrigued by the large heart necklace that Serena was wearing. There have been many displays of flashy jewelry during the Open. View some of them here.........
Melanie Oudin. The newest star on the circuit with the colorful sneakers and All-American spunk. She might have lost today to Caroline Wozniacki, but, by this virtual unknown reaching the quarter-finals at the US Open, she single handedly re-invigorated women's tennis, which lately has been lackluster at best. Thank you for the ride Melanie, and here's to many more. We Believe!!
In a surprise upset, Andy Murray, number 2 seed and one of the favorites to win the US Open this year, was ousted in 3 sets by 16th-seeded Croat Marin Cilic 7-5, 6-2, 6-2. Number 3 seed Rafael Nadal won his match over Frenchman Gael Monfils in 4 sets. With Murray's early departure, Rafa will regain his position as number 2 in the world! Go Rafa!!
Maybe it's just because I am a tennis maniac, but this commercial gets me every time. It truly captures everything there is to love about tennis. Call me a sucker, call me a sap, but I love it! Does anyone else feel the same?
Who couldn't love this guy! After defeating Radek Stepanek in straight sets, Novak Djokovic entertains the crowd with his impersonations and with a quick match up with the one-and-only Johnny Mac. He definitely knows how to play up the crowd! See him at his best. Enjoy!
